ALBERT DONNICI Dec. 9, 1914-Sept. 22, 2012 In San Francisco at age 97, beloved and devoted husband to Jennie for 74 years, Survived by Jennie; sons Peter (Diane) and Patrick (Marilu); grandchildren Julie, Joseph, JoAnn, Phillip and Alessandra; great grandchildren, Megan, Allison, Matthew, Anthony, and great-great grandson Liam. He was preceded in death by father (Pietro) and mother (Chiara), and siblings, Theresa, Mary, John, Millie, Tony, Concetta, Louise, Lucy, and Margaret. He was the cherished uncle and cousin of the many Donnici family members, which total in the hundreds. Albert was born in Kansas City, MO where he worked with his father and brothers in the family produce business, attended high school and college, before owning/operating retail liquor, grocery and other businesses there. He was called to the service of our country in WWII, serving in Patton?s 3rd Army-95th Division, earning 2 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart, after being seriously wounded in France. After the war he returned to Kansas City as a self employed business man and real estate broker. He became more active in politics, among other things working to elect the first woman to the Missouri State Senate. He later was appointed by the City of Kansas City as a legislative lobbyist and secured state funding to build/operate the new Truman Medical Center, UMKC Law School and other city undertakings. Jennie and he moved to San Francisco to be close to their sons? family in 1994, obtaining his CA real estate license at age 80, working out of the West Portal area. Above all else, his love of family was most important to Albert, especially his love, care and concern for Jennie, and she for him, and teaching us all to work hard and be considerate of others, especially those less fortunate. The family would especially like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the SF VA Convalescent Center assisting in Albert?s care. Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia?s Church, 2555 17th Ave., San Francisco, at 9:30 am on Friday, September 28th. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10am followed by committal services at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma. online condolences may be offerrred at www.vmpandco.com.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Disabled American Veterans.
