Mr. Carlos Ramirez Sr.

Carlos Ramirez Sr. was born to Wenceslao Ramirez and Antonia Daz Ramirez in Santo Tomas,La Union, Philippines on April 19, 1919 and passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 14, 2016 in Clovis, California at the age of 97. Mr. Ramirez immigrated to the United States and proudly served in the United States Army. He was a decorated WWII POW and highly respected veteran. Carlos received countless awards and recognition honoring his service to our country. His bravery and dedicated service earned him a Purple Heart Medal and received a certificate of recognition from Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi. Upon his retirement from the Army as Sergeant First Class, Carlos continued to work for the U.S. Government in the civil service. He had a deep devotion to his Catholic faith and prayed daily. Carlos is preceded in death by his wife Marta P. Ramirez in 1997 and his children, Virginia Waldon and Romeo Ramirez. Carlos was the loving father to Cres Ramirez and his wife Remy of Sunnyvale, CA, Nona Visperas of San Francisco, CA, Rudy Ramirez and his wife Judy of Clovis, CA, Carlos Ramirez Jr. and his wife Emma of Cameron Park, CA, Manuela Ramirez of San Leandro, CA, Emma Ramirez of Sunnyvale, CA, Fe Thibodeaux of Antioch, CA, Paz Ramirez of Byron, CA, Marilyn Ramirez-Lee and her husband Kevin of South San Francisco, CA, Frances Helen Ramirez of San Francisco, CA and Marilou Ariones of San Francisco, CA. He was the beloved grandfather to 23 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and extended family members and friends. Visitation will be held at Chapel of the Light Funeral Home in Fresno, California on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A vigil service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Friends may visit on Thursday October 20, 2016 from 3:00PM to 9:00PM and are invited to attend the Vigil Service also on Thursday at 7:00PM all at the chapels of Valente Marini Perata & Co. 4840 Mission Street San Francisco. Friends are also invited to attend the Funeral Service on Friday October 21, 2016 at 9:30am from the chapels of Valente Marini Perata & Co. then to St. Elizabeth Church where a 10:00AM Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Committal to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma.
