Mr. Casey Pino

Casamerio (Casey) Pino March 4 1923 - February 21, 2014 Celebrating the life of Casey Pino who passed away peacefully on February 21, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Preceded in death by his parents, David and Febronia Pino. Siblings Katherine, Bennie, Helen, William, Sadie, Jennie, Manuel, Vern and Bernice. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Aurora, daughter Norma, sons David (Joanne), Daniel (Lisa) along with grandchildren Robert, Katherine, Elizabeth, Bonnie, Grace, Casey and Connor. A proud native of Pueblo, CO, Casey was a decorated athlete at Centennial High School. Casey left early in his senior year to enlist and serve humbly in the Navy (Gunner's Mate) in WWII (Pacific Theater 1942-1945) in battles from Guadacanal through Okinawa. Soon after the war, Casey settled in San Francisco ultimately leading to the most fortunate of circumstances, meeting, courting and falling in love with our mother Aurora (he did ask our grandfather for his permission). He raised his family in St. Paul Parish, was active with the Men of St. Paul, VFW member, a coach, mentor, avid San Francisco Giant fan, and 49er season ticket holder since 1968. Our father cherished his heritage and his family from Colorado. The two-day trips in a vintage Chevrolet wagon with the AM radio, no air conditioning and at times no mufflers or spare tire. It was important to him that we knew each other, stayed with each other, dined with each other and shared stories on our grandparents' porch on Pine Street. He would want us to acknowledge all his family and friends. Friends may visit after 5:00PM on Tuesday, February 25 and are invited to attend a Vigil Service also on Tuesday at 7:00PM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 221 Valley Street, SF. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 26 at 10:00AM also at St. Paul Catholic Church. Committal to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it was our father's sincere wish that you consider making a charitable donation in his memory at any of the following: St. Paul Restoration Fund, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, or Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM), Dubuque, IA or your local VFW.
