Ernest Emig

Mr. Ernest Edward Emig, age 79, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 11, 2008, in San Francisco at Veteran?s Hospice Unit at Fort Miley. He was born in San Francisco on March 14, 1928, the only son of Ernest and Sophia Emig.Ed is survived and will be deeply missed by his long time and devoted companion, Grace Mastrangelo- Patterson, and his adopted family: Greg and Linda Mastrangelo and their sons, Michael, Nicholas, and Thomas, and daughters, Christina and Gina, and her husband Greg Spaniolo; Susan and Jose Aguirre and their sons, David Perotti and his wife, Brenda, and daughter, Kayla, and Robert Perotti and his daughter, Alli. He also leaves behind other family and friends who share his interests.Ed was a retire SFUSD school teacher with Masters Degrees in Education and Industrial Arts, and a retired US Army veteran of the Korean War. He truly loved nature and hiking the great outdoors. He especially enjoyed the many times he spent in Yosemite National Park, hiking the John Muir trail, and the many days that he spent each year hiking the rails of Mt. Tamalpais in Marin county. Ed also enjoyed classical music, opera, hymns, and the haunting sounds if the bagpipe.Ed was a member and benefactor to many organizations. He was Mason, Shriner, member of the Alpine and West Point Clubs on Mt Tamalpais, and member of the Godfather?s Club, Olympic Club, Presido Golf Club, and lifetime supporter of the Nature Conservancy.Ed, thank you for all that you have done for so many.May you enjoy perpetual bliss and walk the trails of heaven at the side of God.Friends may visit after 4:30 pm Tuesday and are invited to attend the Vigil Service Tuesday 7:00 pm and the Funeral Liturgy Wednesday 11:00 am at the Chapels of Valente Marini Perata & Co., 4840 Mission St., SF followed by Committal Services at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park.Online condolences may be offered at www.vmpandco.com Visitations: 4:00PM to 9:00PM on Tuesday, January 15th, 2008 at Valente Marini Perata & Co.
