Marty Bonney

Marty was born on August 20, 1983 and in his short time on earth, he lived his life to the fullest. He was a born adventurer who enjoyed skydiving, scuba diving, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, rugby and wrestling. A determined humanitarian, Marty saved lives serving on Medivac operations and volunteering in AIDS clinics in South African townships. An avid traveler, Marty was able to explore London, Paris, South Africa, Mozambique, China and Mexico. Marty was a native San Franciscan who attended Holy Name School, Archbishop Riordan High School and graduated with a Bachelor?s of Science in Nursing from University of San Francisco. He was pursuing his Master?s Degree in Nursing Administration at the University of San Diego. He was moved by his work with premature babies at Rady Children?s Hospital in San Diego and cherished his co-workers at the Transitional Care Unit at the San Francisco Veteran?s Hospital. Marty is survived by his mother, Petra DeJesus; his father, Leon Bonney; his brothers, Leon S. and Ignacio Bonney; and his Grandparents, Margaret Duran Bonney, Maria and Peter DeJesus, as well as his large and loving family on both sides that include numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. He will be reunited with his Great-grandparents Agustin and Sarita Duran, Armando and Juana Reyes Ortiz, Mary DeJesus Colette, and his Grandfather Salomon Bonney.Marty loved to laugh and his beautiful smile brought joy to others. He deeply cherished his family and friends, and adored Thor, the family dog. The passion, joy and creativity that he brought to everything he touched will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege to know him. His family has been comforted by the outpouring of love from Marty?s many friends and relatives. Even in his passing his spirit lives on as an organ donor.
