She came to California in 1952 from Saskatchewan, Canada, along with her sister Mabel, where they both enjoyed San Francisco, and decided to make this their home. Upon her arrival in San Francisco, she took employment at St. Francis Hospital as a nurse. Sheila continued her education, and soon received her Masters and Masters Public Health from UC. She taught at University of San Francisco, until her retirement from there after 23 years. She worked with then Representative, Congressman George Miller in the 1980's, and traveled and lived in Washington DC., while working on the Select Committee on Children, Youth and Families, on Capitol Hill. Surrounded by love daily from her Daughter Catherine; Grandchildren Michael (Lorraine), Alexander (Jamilla), and Elizabeth (Nima); Great-Grandchildren Isaiah and Devon; Her sisters Mabel and Edith and her many additional friends and family members. Sheila will be missed by all who knew her, but each of us is comforted to know she is at peace. The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Kaiser, San Francisco, Stroke Wing, for their kindness, compassion, and loving care for our beloved mother, grandmother and sister.
