Mrs. Sira Marie Pittavino

Sira Marie Pittavino Sira Marie Pittavino was born to the joyful union of Giuseppe (Beppi) and Angelina (Lina) Marin in Santa Rosa on March 19, 1921. The family then moved to San Francisco where her brother Raymond was born. She grew up in The City, graduated from Commerce High School in 1938 and then attended business school at Healds. She then pursued a lifelong career as an administrative assistant. Sira met the love of her life , John Pittavino, married him and enjoyed 62 years of marriage before John passed away in 2004. Sira and Johnny were card carrying members of the Greatest Generation . Along with their lifelong "partners in crime", Peter (Pete) and Dina (Tommy) Rosina they raised hell, families and labored in love in the tradition of their great generation. The Rosina's daughters became like the daughters Sira never had: Sira and Donna developed yet another of those "Sira special" bonds. After her partner and her other soul mates passed, Sira continued to shop, garden, cook and conducted an assault on the game of bingo. She was aided and abetted by the "boys" in her neighborhood: Skip Schwartz, Ben Delgado, Troy and Jerry and Willie Yip while they feasted on bean salads, biscotti and pasta. She was further comforted in her later years by the loving friendship and support of Sue and John Hobson and Margaret Smetana. She was also blessed to find herself cared for by Nora Ferretti whose loving care and friendship meant everything to Sira. She went on to enjoy her reign as princess at the Choctaw House where the staff provided a loving and caring home in which she thrived though her final moments. Sira lived a simple life best characterized by her many, special relationships. Those who knew her were privileged to know the profound meaning of loving kindness and friendship. Friends may visit on Thursday October 13, 2016 after 6:00PM and are invited attend the Vigil Service also on Thursday at 7:00PM at the chapels of Valente Marini Perata & Co. 4840 Mission St., SF. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday October 14, 2016 at 9:30AM from the chapels of Valente Marini Perata & Co. thence to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 60 Wellington Ave., Daly City where a 10:00AM Funeral Mass will be celebrated.
